Jacob's name is placed on Joseph's sons in a special way (Genesis 48:16), and they are identified in prophecy as "Jacob" and "Israel". The great tribulation is the time of "Jacob's trouble" (Jeremiah 30:7), hence, the great tribulation will fall heavily on the United States as well as several other nations. Other prophecies explain why God will allow this and how we will be saved out of it, and they give further details regarding these events. The current economic crisis is weakening the United States and may be setting us up for further disasters in the near future.
