Jesus Christ is the creator according to John 1:3. We know that the worlds were "framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." Jesus created all that we see in the world. And the scripture tells us that the raw materials that Jesus used to create are things that can not be seen. Jesus took that which could not be seen and created all that is seen.

God Spoke and It Was Done

The Psalmist declares in Psalm 33:9 that Yahweh spoke and it was done, Yahweh commanded and it stood fast. Before God spoke, it was not done, but after God spoke, it was done. Before God spoke there was only that which does not appear, but after God spoke all that we see appeared. God created what we see out of that which does not appear.

And every seventh day we come together to celebrate the creative power of God. And when we do that, we open up the door to see what God will do with us and through us, for now we stand in front of Jesus with righteousness that can fitly be called "filthy rags." (Isaiah 64:6) We stand before Jesus who even though he has declared us righteous (Justification) still seeks to "make" us righteous (Sanctification). Jesus has the power not just to forgive but to cleanse (1 John 1:9) and he who began the good work is faithful to complete it. (Philippians 1:6)

Forgiving and Cleansing

And Jesus power to forgive and to cleanse is seen in his power to take nothing and turn it into something. Praise God for the creative power of God that can take out a stony heart and give a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 11:19). That heart he gives us is made possible by that creative power as the Psalmist declares "create in me a clean heart."(Psalm 51:10) Praise God for that power that is marshaled for our good that we might be witnesses of his love and power in the world.
