Sister Lisa,

Thank you for your comment. I like your emphasis on presenting in a "non-frantic" way. (I may use that wording again) I also agree that billboard evangelism is not the most effective method. In fact I largely agree with all of what you have said.

However, I think that we may have some disconnect in understanding each other because I get the impression that you think we are largely in disagreement, although I could be wrong on that. My article was not about HOW you present "truth" but what is the "truth" that we present. At least what is included in the "truth" that we present.

Your comment is a helpful reminder about the importance of one on one connections and loving presentation, but my article was about what it is that is missing in much of our proclamation, whether done in a loving way or a not so loving way. In short, I thank you for bringing up an important point, but I don't really see how it is directly relevant to this article...

But I might be missing something either in what I wrote (been 6 months ago) or what you wrote...But in any case, thank you for commenting and may God Bless you...

I think truth can be stated in a non-frantic way. Just stated like we would speak about anything else that is important - fervently, but don't whip people over the head with it. Billboards on highways targeted at members of a particular denomination are guaranteed to turn people away. Has anyone ever given a testimony that they were led to the Lord via one of these? I'd be astonished if they were. You don't pull people out of the fire by holding up a sign. You grab them, personally.

There needs to be a Christ-centered revival in the SDA church. Our church is very generational and many have no idea what it means to be a born again Christian, but have an excellent idea what it means to be Adventist. As a result many have a warped idea that salvation has more to do with getting your memberhip in the right denomination and intellectually believing all the right things. If we don't get back to Calvary soon our usefulness to the Lord will be nil.

Revelation 18:1-8, with particular attention to verse 4 - seems clear to me that we really should be reaching the "churched" otherwise how will they "come out of her my people" - that is, 'God's people' coming out of Babylon, the apostate church, the mother harlot and daughter harlots who are partaking of the wine of the wrath of fornication....?

Funnily enough, as I was driving home from work today it struck me... that whilst we're busy trying to find new church buildlings and build bigger buildings (to bring in the 'unchurched'...) there are hundreds of church buildlings occupied by those of other denominations that need to hear the angel's message... Come Out! - If only we could focus on reaching those... we wouldn't need to save, buy, beg or build...!

Dr. Nixon is absolutely one of the best preachers in the world! If you have never heard the sermon "How Jesus Saves", go get it now. It was preached at the GYC. It is a prime example of excellent preaching.

I believe that Christ is the center of all there is in the Bible. All is worth studying and hearing about. I would like to know more about the Sanctuary service. It's my opinion that when the church begins changing points of focus (especially the sanctuary service), that we are just aligning ourselves with the world to gain more souls. Jesus has always been the focus of the church, and we don't need to change.

Hanging upon the cross Christ was the gospel . Now we have a message, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sins of the world." Will not our church members keep their eyes fixed on a crucified and risen Saviour, in whom their hopes of eternal life are centered? This is our message, our argument, our doctrine, our warning to the impenitent, our encouragement for the sorrowing, the hope for every believer. (SDA Bible Commentary, Vol. 6, p.1113)

Of all professing Christians, Seventh-day Adventists should be foremost in uplifting Christ before the world. The proclamation of the third angel's message calls for the presentation of the Sabbath truth. This truth, with others included in the message, is to be proclaimed; but the great center of attraction, Christ Jesus, must not be left out. It is at the cross of Christ that mercy and truth meet together, and righteousness and peace kiss each other. The sinner must be led to look to Calvary; with the simple faith of a little child he must trust in the merits of the Saviour, accepting His righteousness, believing in His mercy. (Gospel Workers p.156)

Melvina,
Thank you for your encouragement...keep watching...more is coming...

Lisa,
Yes, it is very probable that there may be a few churches here and there, but I have to admit, I have not seen it. I have seen some pretty conservative Ellen White readers, but I have not met any one that I think deserve to be accused of "worshiping Ellen White." I have even met some folks who I think were off the deep end, but even they weren't putting Ellen White above Jesus, and by no means were they in control of the church....

Royalblod,
Not sure how what you are saying relates to the original post...please help me out by relating your comment to the article...

God bless...
